Philadelphia (Nov. 25, 2014) – Peace Islands Institute and Turkish Cultural Center of Pennsylvania co-sponsored the Interfaith Thanksgiving Service, held at First Presbyterian Church in Center City. The event was an interfaith gathering, with a prayer service, hymn singing, and poetry reading.
“ Joining together from our diverse traditions, from the different faiths that sustain us, we come to express our gratitude and to pray that our actions within and beyond our community may echo the goodness for which we give thanks.”
O Source of light and truth, we pray that this hour of worship may be one of vision and inspiration. Help us to find knowledge by which to live. Lead us to take these words of thanksgiving we shall speak into our hearts and our lives.”
Clergy of multiple faiths and congregations offered prayers of thanks, and in light of what their gratitude, offered personal ideas of ways to enhance their community. The event was followed with a reception and meal.
